From the exquisite Art Deco stained glass window that casts vibrant hues across the floor and the majestic original crystal chandelier, complemented by its coordinating slip-shade sconces in the living room, to the enduring beauty of the old glazed plaster, and the graceful cove and barrel ceilings that sweep throughout the entire residence, and even a charmingly abandoned telephone niche—each detail serves as a gentle, evocative reminder of times gone by, connecting us to the past.

Despite all the incredible conveniences and innovations that our modern lifestyles afford us, even the most skilled custom builders rarely achieve the handcrafted standards and intricate detailing that defined construction in previous eras. This antique piece, now elegantly housing my collection of dress shoes, served for decades as a distinguished display for men’s shirts and ties in a bespoke clothing shop located in the heart of central London. It carries with it the quiet echoes of countless sartorial decisions and the bustling history of a vibrant city.

The prominent artwork gracing my dining room is a captivating charcoal drawing that I discovered during a cultural exchange trip to Cuba.
