“I will say this was the hardest and scariest experience I’ve had to date,” Massey-Carter shared, reflecting on the immense emotional toll this period took on her and her family. “Luckily Maverick’s heart responded perfectly to the repair, and at 10 months old he has no restrictions and you would never know he has a repaired heart.” Maverick’s journey has left an indelible mark on his parents. “He has truly taught us so much about life, being parents and mostly being resilient,” she emphasized. “I would love to just sit and talk to her about life, what she sees as relevant in getting to a space where you are content and know you’ve done your part for women’s sports, your community, and family,” she articulated.
