The Dallas real estate market is dynamic, and success often springs from a unique blend of tireless dedication, deep-rooted family values, and an unwavering commitment to clients. This ethos perfectly embodies the journey of Mitra Shamsa, a prominent Dallas Realtor whose path began with immigration from Iran, followed by humble beginnings selling shoes, and culminating in a thriving real estate career built on sheer hard work. Her greatest reward? Cherished Sunday evenings with her beloved family.
Today, her dedicated daughter, Mina Shamsa, has proudly joined the family business, forging an unstoppable mother-daughter real estate team that navigates the competitive Dallas market side-by-side every day. Their partnership represents a powerful synergy of experience and innovation, tradition and modern strategy, all grounded in a shared passion for helping clients achieve their homeownership dreams.
Mina Shamsa embarked on her real estate journey in 2019, bringing a decade of invaluable experience from the fast-paced world of digital advertising. This background, rich in marketing and analytics, would later prove to be a significant asset to their joint venture.
“For years, my mom asked me incessantly to join her in the business, but I always pushed back,” Mina recounts, reflecting on her initial reluctance to join her mother at the renowned Ebby Halliday Realtors. “I’m sure it was a bit out of rebellion, combined with a genuine feeling that real estate wasn’t a career path where I would truly succeed, that made me resist.”
As it often turns out, mother knew best. Mitra’s foresight and deep understanding of her daughter’s potential eventually prevailed, proving that she possessed an insight Mina had yet to discover within herself.
“She saw something in me that I didn’t recognize until I started gaining momentum and successfully closing deals,” Mina admits, a hint of pride in her voice. “What I now know, she understood all along, and I believe that deep down, it’s an incredibly proud feeling for her to see me thrive.”
Mitra Shamsa expresses profound gratitude for the unique opportunity to work alongside her daughter. For Mitra, family has always been the cornerstone of her life, a value deeply ingrained from her earliest experiences.
“My children have always meant the world to me,” she shares, her voice softening with emotion. “When I left Iran in 1978, I left my entire family behind. We were always an incredibly close-knit family, and that bond was a perpetual source of joy in my life. I was determined to continue that close relationship with my children, nurturing a strong family unit here. Mina has consistently been a very caring child, always there for me when I needed her. Our connection is as strong and as loving as any mother and daughter could hope for.” This deep familial bond not only enriches their personal lives but also forms the bedrock of their professional collaboration, allowing them to approach their Dallas real estate clients with an unparalleled level of empathy and understanding.
Building a Dallas Real Estate Legacy: A Journey of Grit and Growth
Mitra’s journey into sales began far from the world of property listings. She started her career in the shoe department at Lord & Taylor at NorthPark Center, dedicating her nights and weekends to work. This demanding schedule was a conscious choice, ensuring her children never had to attend daycare, allowing her to be present during their formative years despite the financial necessities. One pivotal evening, the husband of a satisfied client approached Mitra, impressed by her natural sales acumen. He recognized her exceptional talent and insight, suggesting she ought to pursue a career in real estate – a career he believed would truly leverage her skills and dedication.
Taking that client’s insightful advice, Mitra bravely signed up for real estate classes when Mina was just six years old. It was a bold step, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and her unwavering commitment to providing a better life for her family. Mitra officially joined the esteemed Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1992, an affiliation she proudly maintains to this day, marking decades of consistent success and dedication to the Dallas housing market. Mina joined her about four years ago, transforming their individual strengths into a cohesive and formidable team.
“Being incredibly close and deeply understanding each other truly enhances our ability to serve our clients effectively,” Mitra explains, highlighting the unique advantage of their mother-daughter partnership. “If one of us is temporarily unavailable for any reason, or perhaps enjoying a much-deserved vacation, we can seamlessly cover for each other. Our clients are therefore never left without a quick response or immediate assistance precisely when they need it most, ensuring a consistently high level of service in the fast-paced Dallas real estate landscape.” Their synergy ensures that whether you are buying a dream home or selling a cherished property, the Shamsa team provides unwavering support and expert guidance.

The real estate industry has undergone monumental transformations since Mitra first began her career in the early 1990s. From rudimentary paper maps to advanced digital platforms, the evolution has been swift and profound. Over the past few years, this mother-and-daughter team has embraced this change, learning and growing together, leveraging their combined wisdom and innovative spirit to navigate the modern Dallas housing market.
“I vividly remember going to the office with her as a child, just to pick up a fax, and seeing the massive stack of Mapscos (physical street directories) perpetually sitting in her backseat,” Mina recalls, painting a clear picture of the industry’s past. “My mom possesses a more traditional, experience-driven approach, whereas I tend to be more progressive and digitally oriented. She excels with a sharp business mind, while I gravitate towards more creative and analytical strategies. My decade-long background in advertising has allowed me to significantly elevate our marketing game since we formally established our team. I’m also inherently a numbers nerd, and I’ve introduced her to how to operate with greater efficiency by harnessing online tools and sophisticated data analytics that she might not have considered before.”
Yet, the learning flows in both directions. “She’s taught me invaluable lessons, particularly that what appears new isn’t always inherently superior, especially from a strategic marketing standpoint. I’ve learned from her that ethics and unwavering integrity stand above everything else in this business, even when it might not seem immediately personally beneficial. She’s instilled in me the understanding that the most successful transactions occur when two agents collaborate as a unified team towards a common goal, rather than operating against each other. And her negotiation skills are truly exceptional. I’ve always leaned towards a more diplomatic approach in negotiations, so I’ve learned that sometimes, asking the tough questions or making it strategically challenging for someone to decline is absolutely necessary to secure the optimal outcome for our valued clients.” This blend of traditional wisdom and modern innovation positions them uniquely to serve a diverse clientele in the Dallas real estate market.
Mutual Respect: The Foundation of Their Real Estate Partnership
Mitra speaks with immense pride and admiration for her daughter, particularly acknowledging Mina’s exceptional listening skills and her profound care for each client. “She truly exemplifies what Ebby Halliday herself consistently advised her agents: ‘Do your absolute best for your clients, and the business will undoubtedly come to you.’” This timeless philosophy resonates deeply within their team, ensuring every client receives personalized attention and dedication that goes beyond mere transactions.
Mina, in turn, deeply values the relentless drive and unparalleled work ethic of her mother, who arrived in this country in the 1970s, knowing absolutely no one and speaking English as a second language. Mitra’s immigrant story is one of profound resilience and determination, a powerful narrative that continues to inspire Mina’s own approach to life and business.

“Sometimes it truly takes a shift in perspective to fully grasp the incredible journey someone else has navigated, and now that I am older and a mother myself, I look back and recognize how truly remarkable her story is,” Mina reflects, her voice full of emotion. “She’s shared countless stories about taking late-night phone shifts at the office, diligently sitting next to Top Producers to meticulously learn how they spoke, how they handled complex situations, and how they built their success. She would tirelessly knock on doors and invest incredibly long hours, demonstrating an unparalleled commitment. Her success did not come easily; it was forged through relentless effort and sacrifice. My brother and I enjoyed a wonderful childhood, and I honestly don’t believe I fully comprehended the sheer magnitude of her work and dedication to give us a happy and stable life until I reached adulthood.” This deep understanding of her mother’s struggles and triumphs fuels Mina’s own work ethic and reinforces their shared commitment to excellence in Dallas real estate.
The Shamsas will celebrate Mother’s Day this year, as they have consistently done every Sunday for over 12 years, with a sacred, “non-negotiable” family dinner hosted at the matriarch’s welcoming home. This enduring tradition, cherished by all, underscores the paramount importance of family in their lives. Mitra expresses feeling doubly blessed that both her daughter and son reside in the vibrant Dallas area, ensuring these precious family gatherings can continue regularly.
“On Mother’s Day, they will definitely be there, and I am certain it will be celebrated with even more flowers and heartfelt hugs than a usual Sunday dinner,” she says, her face lighting up at the thought. “A big, warm hug is truly the best gift I could ever receive. And of course, since both of my wonderful children have children of their own, there will be three mothers being celebrated at our table: myself, Mina, and my beloved daughter-in-law.” It’s a multi-generational celebration of love, family, and the enduring strength of their bonds.
Often, after a long and demanding open house, Mitra will still lovingly cook a traditional Persian feast for ten people. Yet, she finds immense joy in this labor of love, knowing that these shared meals bring her cherished family together. And when it comes to Sunday night plans, Mina issues a clear warning: don’t even think about suggesting alternate arrangements.
“It’s simply not going to happen,” she states with a definitive tone, recounting a humorous anecdote. “I made it abundantly clear to my husband, even before he proposed, that every single Sunday, without exception, we will be at my mom’s house. So, good luck with that 7 o’clock Cowboys kickoff, I told him!” She acknowledges the occasional desire for a quiet evening at home. “I admit there are weeks when all I want to do is just stay home after an open house, because, yes, we’re dedicated Realtors and we are often working every Sunday. But it’s much like working out at the gym – I never, ever regret it after I’ve been there.” This unwavering commitment to family, mirroring their dedication to clients, truly sets the Shamsa team apart in the Dallas real estate landscape, building not just successful careers but a lasting legacy of love and service.
