With profound sadness, we announce the passing of a true visionary and pillar of the Dallas community, Pierce Allman. Co-owner of the esteemed real estate powerhouse, Allie Beth Allman & Associates, Pierce Allman’s remarkable life was a tapestry woven with threads of journalistic integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, unwavering civic dedication, and deep-seated philanthropy. A cherished long-time resident of Highland Park and a proud alumnus of SMU, his contributions left an indelible mark on the landscape of Dallas, both literally and figuratively.
Allman passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving, surrounded by the love of his family. He had been under hospice care for several months, bravely navigating his final journey with the same grace and dignity that characterized his entire life. His legacy as a devoted husband, loving father, trailblazing journalist, and strategic business leader will continue to inspire generations.
Together with his beloved wife, Allie Beth, Pierce Allman co-founded Allie Beth Allman & Associates, transforming it into one of the most prestigious luxury real estate firms in the nation. While Allie Beth Allman’s name adorns the sign and her exceptional salesmanship is legendary, it was Pierce’s strategic brilliance and foundational business acumen that provided the essential framework for its monumental success. The firm, comprising approximately 360 highly skilled agents, specializes in the most exclusive markets, including Park Cities, Preston Hollow, North and East Dallas, and Southlake luxury real estate. Their unparalleled expertise and deep community roots have consistently driven the firm to achieve outstanding results.
In a testament to its market dominance and exemplary leadership, Allie Beth Allman & Associates was acquired in 2015 by Warren Buffett’s HomeServices of America Inc. for an undisclosed sum. This acquisition underscored the firm’s significant standing within the national real estate landscape. In the year of Pierce’s passing, Allie Beth Allman & Associates achieved an astonishing $3.2 billion in sales, a clear indicator of the robust foundation Pierce helped establish and the continued excellence it upholds.
Keith Conlon, President of Allie Beth Allman & Associates, beautifully encapsulated Pierce’s pivotal role: “Pierce Allman was very much the strength and backbone of this company. The name on the sign is Allie Beth, but it truly was Allie Beth and Pierce Allman. He was a marketing genius and managed the business side so Allie Beth could sell. Yet he was content — happy even — to let Allie Beth have the limelight. A brilliant, humble man who never ceased to amaze us with his depth of knowledge on just about everything, and his dapper dress, Pierce Allman will be sorely missed at this company. We appreciated him to the core.” Conlon’s words paint a vivid picture of a man whose quiet strength and profound intelligence were the guiding forces behind one of Dallas’s most enduring success stories in luxury real estate.

While Allie Beth Allman is undeniably the sales powerhouse whose charisma and dedication have propelled the firm to its current heights, she has always gracefully acknowledged Pierce’s instrumental role in its promotion, growth, and expansion. His strategic vision and marketing expertise were the unseen engine driving the company forward, allowing Allie Beth to focus on what she did best: connecting people with their dream homes. It is noteworthy that Pierce was a few years ahead of Mary Frances Burleson at Highland Park High School. Burleson, who began her career as Ebby Halliday’s secretary and rose to become President of the Ebby Halliday Companies – also owned by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices of America Inc. – passed away on Sunday, November 27, at the age of 87. The simultaneous passing of these two giants of Dallas real estate, both connected through their Highland Park roots and the HomeServices of America Inc. network, underscores a generational shift in the industry and highlights the profound impact they both had on shaping the Dallas luxury real estate market.
A Life of Purpose: Boy Scout, Journalist, and Father of the Year
Born in 1934, Pierce Allman’s journey began in the vibrant community of Highland Park, Texas. His early life was marked by an extraordinary dedication to the Boy Scouts, where he achieved a legendary status by earning an astonishing 104 merit badges – a feat that positioned him as the highest-ranking Boy Scout in the entire country at one point. This early demonstration of discipline, perseverance, and a thirst for knowledge would become hallmarks of his character throughout his life, laying the groundwork for his future successes in various fields.
After graduating from Highland Park High School in 1954, Allman continued his pursuit of knowledge at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in radio/TV. This specialized education prepared him for a dynamic career in media. Following his academic pursuits, Allman served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, further honing his discipline and commitment. Upon returning to civilian life, he embarked on a career as a popular disc jockey at local radio stations, where his charismatic personality and engaging voice captivated audiences across Dallas.
However, it was on November 22, 1963, while employed by WFAA, that Pierce Allman would etch his name into the annals of American history. On that fateful day, Allman became the first reporter to broadcast an on-scene report after witnessing the tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. His quick thinking, journalistic courage, and dedication to reporting the truth under unimaginable circumstances showcased the very essence of his professional integrity.
Allman frequently recounted his “Dallas experience,” a harrowing and historically significant encounter with Lee Harvey Oswald at the Texas School Book Depository, mere moments after President Kennedy was shot. The eager young reporter, driven by an instinct to cover the unfolding tragedy, rushed into the building seeking a telephone. In a surreal twist of fate, he encountered Oswald standing calmly in a doorway. Unaware that he was face-to-face with the president’s assassin, Allman politely inquired about the location of a telephone so he could phone in his story. With his characteristic graciousness, Allman actually thanked Oswald before proceeding to file his live report from the scene of the assassination. This chilling yet profoundly important moment underscores Allman’s role as a primary witness to one of the most pivotal events in modern American history, cementing his legacy as a journalist who was truly at the forefront of breaking news.
Cultivating Excellence: Leadership, Gratitude, and Unconditional Love
Pierce Allman’s career trajectory took a new direction in 1965 when SMU President Willis Tate, recognizing Allman’s exceptional communication skills and leadership potential, recruited him to spearhead the university’s alumni affairs office. In this role, Allman significantly strengthened the bond between the university and its graduates, fostering a vibrant and engaged alumni community. His talents soon led him to launch a highly successful public relations division at the renowned TracyLocke advertising agency, where his innovative strategies and creative campaigns earned him numerous prestigious awards, establishing him as a leader in the field. Building on this success, Allman ventured out to found his own marketing firm, Allman & Co., further solidifying his reputation as a marketing visionary.
In 2003, Pierce Allman channeled his extensive marketing expertise and entrepreneurial spirit into helping his wife, Allie Beth, establish Allie Beth Allman & Associates. As the firm’s Director of Marketing, he meticulously crafted its brand identity, developed its promotional strategies, and cultivated its expansive reach within the competitive Dallas luxury real estate market. His strategic oversight was critical in transforming the nascent firm into the industry giant it is today. Pierce and Allie Beth shared a profound and enduring partnership, both in life and in business. They were married for an incredible 58 years at the time of his passing, a testament to a bond characterized by unwavering devotion and mutual respect. Their relationship was frequently cited as an exemplary model of love and partnership, truly embodying one of the most loving and dedicated couples in all of Texas.
Beyond his professional achievements, the contributions of Pierce Allman to the Dallas philanthropic community were both numerous and truly incredible. He and his wife, Allie Beth, exemplified the very essence of giving back, often going beyond merely “practicing what they preached” to their agents. They believed deeply in active civic participation and instilled this value in those around them. Pierce Allman famously articulated this philosophy many times, stating, “If you live in a community, you need to be a giving part of that community and active in it.” This guiding principle fueled their extensive involvement in various causes and organizations that enriched Dallas life.
Allman served as a distinguished fellow at the Dallas Historical Society, contributing to the preservation and celebration of the city’s rich heritage. He held influential positions on the boards of numerous key institutions, including the S.M. Wright Foundation, which he proudly co-founded, dedicated to assisting underprivileged families in Dallas. His commitment also extended to the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture and the Park Cities Historical Society, where he helped safeguard the region’s historical narratives. His tireless dedication earned him numerous civic honors and led him to serve on dozens of civic boards, reflecting his broad impact across the community. Among the many wonderful causes the Allmans passionately supported were the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, fostering education and discovery; DFW World Affairs, promoting global understanding; the Dallas Museum of Art, enriching cultural life; the George W. Bush Presidential Center, advancing public policy; the Dallas Symphony, celebrating the arts; and the MD Anderson Cancer Center Dallas, supporting vital health initiatives. His philanthropic footprint was vast and transformative, leaving an enduring legacy of generosity and community stewardship.
In recognition of his profound commitment to family values and his exemplary role as a patriarch, Allman was deservedly named Father of the Year at the 42nd Anniversary Father of the Year Awards Luncheon in 2017. This honor celebrated not only his professional achievements but also his deepest passion: his family.

At the event, he shared heartfelt words that resonated deeply with all attendees: “This is truly a wonderful honor. For me, being a good father has been the most important part of my life. Wherever my girls are, whatever they are doing, I want them to know ‘My father loves me’ — it is unconditional love.” These words beautifully encapsulate his unwavering devotion to his daughters, Amy Allman-Dean and Margaret Allman-Cowan, and the profound love that defined his role as a father. This unconditional love was a cornerstone of his existence, extended not only to his immediate family but also to his broader community, reflecting his generous spirit and compassionate heart.
Pierce Allman’s extraordinary life will be cherished and remembered by his devoted and loving wife, Allie Beth, his beloved daughters Amy Allman-Dean and Margaret Allman-Cowan, and their respective families. In a message that truly captured the essence of this incredible family’s spirit, Allie Beth Allman recently encouraged her agents to embrace gratitude and love, especially during the holiday season. Her words serve as a poignant reminder of Pierce’s own philosophy and the values they both held dear: “Celebrate Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
