A Statement of Southern Charm: The 2020 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas
It was an immense thrill and a distinct honor for Erin Sander Design to be featured as a designer at the inaugural Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas in 2020. From the very outset, I knew that the room assigned to me, which served as a connecting passage between Chad Dorsey’s stunning kitchen and the garage, had to be more than just a mere pass-through. My vision was to transform this transitional space into an experience, a room that would exude the quintessential warmth and grace of Southern hospitality while simultaneously making a bold and memorable design statement.
To achieve this, I carefully curated a collection of elements that would delight and engage guests. The walls were adorned with an exquisite, textural wall covering by Elitis, providing an immediate sense of luxurious depth. Whitewashed blue millwork was introduced, adding a touch of classic charm with a fresh, contemporary twist. Perhaps the most playful and inviting element was the hand-painted Cle tile floor, which brought vibrant pattern and personality to the space. Together, these design choices converged to create an atmosphere of inviting fun, subtly encouraging guests to “kick off their boots” and linger awhile, truly experiencing the unique blend of sophistication and approachable comfort that defines the Erin Sander Design aesthetic.
