She was the beloved daughter of Jan (Nix) McFarlane of Little Rock and Robert S. McFarlane, Jr., who hailed from Cleveland, Mississippi. Kay carried her Southern grace and charm throughout her life, yet she wholeheartedly embraced Texas as her adopted home, particularly the serene beauty of the Texas Hill Country, a place she held dear to her heart.

Kay’s family lineage was a source of immense pride. She is survived by her devoted brother, Guy Everett McFarlane of Dallas, and her loving Aunt, Ladye Kay (Nix) Allen, also of Dallas. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved cousin, Taylor (Allen) Vincent, and her two adoring nephews, Rennic T. Vincent and Z. Nash Vincent, both residing in Durango, Colorado. McFarlane, Jr., and her cherished grandparents: Jonnie (Rowland) Nix and Cecil Everett Nix of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Virginia Guy (Hardee) McFarlane of Cleveland, Mississippi. Their legacies, particularly that of her paternal Great Grandfather, William Guy Hardee, Esq., deeply resonated with Kay. Mr. Hardee, a prominent figure from Cleveland, Mississippi, generously donated the land for the establishment of Delta State College, and the Freshman’s Girl’s Dormitory, Hardee Hall, was named in his honor.
