Discover Modern Elegance: A Deep Dive into Greico Custom Homes on the White Rock Home Tour
Prepare to embark on an exclusive journey through the pinnacle of modern residential design as the highly anticipated White Rock Home Tour returns next weekend. Showcasing some of East Dallas’s most breathtaking contemporary properties, this year’s event promises an unforgettable experience for architecture enthusiasts and design aficionados alike. Among the stunning array of homes, one particular residence has captured our imagination from its very inception: a magnificent creation by Greico Custom Homes on Easton Road. We’ve meticulously followed its transformation, from the foundational pour to the intricate finishing touches, and can confidently say this property stands as a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and innovative vision.
Could this be the most captivating Greico Modern Home to date? We delve deeper into what makes this Easton Road property a must-see highlight of the tour.
The Easton Home: Where Modern Design Meets Natural Serenity
Tom Greico, the esteemed builder behind Greico Custom Homes, shared insights into the design philosophy that shaped this remarkable residence. “The Easton Home was a fun project to be involved in because of the freedom the owners’ property provided,” Greico explained. “The basic design philosophy was to create a home with a simple footprint that was easy and affordable to build, while taking full advantage of the heavily wooded property.” This commitment to integrating the structure seamlessly with its natural surroundings is profoundly evident, creating a harmonious blend of built and natural environments.
What truly sets this modern home apart is its unique ability to exude tranquility despite its location on a rather bustling street. Strategically set back from the road and enveloped by mature trees, the property offers an unexpected haven of peace. The clever utilization of existing natural elements ensures that the home feels neither loud nor obtrusive, but rather deeply serene, offering a quiet retreat from the urban pulse.
Greico further elaborated on the architectural intent: “The design we settled on allows the public living areas of the home to be as open, accessible and transparent to the property as possible.” This openness blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living, inviting natural light and scenic views into the heart of the home. He added, “The overlapping design of the upper level provided for a large protected exterior space for outdoor entertaining at the same time, and allowed us to achieve the owners’ desire to have their sleeping quarters capture the essence of camping as if in a tree house.” This innovative approach not only maximizes functional outdoor space but also imbues the private areas with a magical, elevated sensation, evoking childhood dreams of a secluded treehouse retreat.

An Architect’s Favorite: The Heart of the Home
Indeed, the “tree house” feeling is palpable, yet it comes with the undeniable luxury of a master bath that could grace the pages of Architectural Digest. When pressed to name his favorite space within the home, Greico found it challenging to choose just one. “It’s hard to isolate my favorite space in the home, but I’d say it has to be the great room with its glass walls, wood decks, opening on to green grass and large trees on either side,” he revealed. “It’s a very cool space.” This description perfectly encapsulates the home’s essence: a seamless transition between interior comfort and the invigorating beauty of nature.
We wholeheartedly concur with Greico’s assessment. The great room truly serves as the pulsating heart of the residence, inviting light and life in equal measure. To gain an even deeper appreciation for this exceptional property, we sat down with homeowners Ashley and Webster Miller for an exclusive Q&A session, offering a unique glimpse into their daily life within this custom-built dream.

A Homeowner’s Journey: Insights from Ashley Miller
daltxrealestate.com: What room or design element of your home will truly stand out to home tour goers?
Ashley Miller: We absolutely adore our living room feature wall. We had leftover cypress siding from the exterior, and it was a clear decision that we wanted to bring some of that warm, rich wood indoors to create a sense of continuity and natural warmth. Erin Hossley and her brilliant team at Neighborhood Design in Bishop Arts were instrumental in refining our vision for this space – my husband and I had slightly different ideas, so their professional guidance was crucial for maintaining marital harmony and achieving a cohesive look! The installation itself was impeccably executed by Jack Paradise, a fabulous woodworker right here in our neighborhood. The result is something truly cool, distinctly modern, and uniquely ours. We sincerely hope tour goers appreciate it as much as we do.
daltxrealestate.com: Is there any feature or finish in your home that tour goers shouldn’t miss?
Ashley Miller: This might sound a little unconventional, but my absolute favorite feature is actually a hidden one – our central vacuum system! Our builder, Tom Greico of Greico Custom Homes, initially chuckled when we made the request, as most people associate these systems with the models popular in the 1970s. However, modern central vacuum systems are a game-changer. The powerful engine is discreetly located in the garage, and we access it through two hoses neatly housed within the walls. I simply pull out the length I need, clean up quickly, and the hose magically retracts back into the wall when I’m finished. It’s incredibly efficient and convenient. Honestly, I can’t imagine living without it now; it truly simplifies daily life!

daltxrealestate.com: If you had to choose one spot — inside or outside — on your property where you could spend all day, where would it be and why?
Ashley Miller: Without a doubt, it would be the back deck. We actually believe the house reveals its true charm and unique character even more vividly from the rear – the rear elevation offers arguably the best view of our home’s architectural brilliance. Beyond the aesthetics, it’s our ultimate sanctuary. We can luxuriate amidst the wonderful mature trees on what feels like our dream lot, all while being surrounded by our truly incredible neighbors. Finding this perfect combination of property and community felt like sheer luck, and we still pinch ourselves daily. To add to the enjoyment, Webster recently commissioned a custom steel ping pong table for the patio, so now our evenings of wine are often accompanied by some lively, competitive entertainment!
daltxrealestate.com: What are you doing to prepare for the home tour?
Ashley Miller: When we were invited to join the tour, every “one day” project on our wish list instantly became a “today” priority! We expedited the completion of our front circular drive, added strategic landscaping elements to enhance curb appeal, and generally spruced everything up to ensure the home is presented in its absolute best light. Looking ahead, if we ever win the lottery, we already have the perfect expansive yard envisioned for a pool. Our neighbors have even playfully suggested a lazy river that would meander through their yards and conveniently empty into ours, though so far, they haven’t ponied up the investment!

daltxrealestate.com: In what ways have you put your fingerprint on your home?
Ashley Miller: Since our home is a brand-new build, and we were deeply involved in the design process alongside our architect and builder, Tom Greico, I would confidently say that our fingerprints are quite literally visible in every corner of this house. Tom demonstrated incredible openness to our requests, our specific tweaks, and our overarching vision throughout the entire construction journey. This collaborative spirit ensured that the final product wasn’t just a house, but a deeply personalized home that perfectly reflects our tastes and lifestyle.
daltxrealestate.com: Is there any history behind your home? Your neighborhood? Care to share?

Ashley Miller: Both Webster and I originally hail from out of state, so much of Dallas still feels wonderfully new to us, even after ten years in the suburbs before this move. We hadn’t even heard of Lochwood previously, but this little gem of a neighborhood has turned out to be more than we could have ever hoped for. Growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I always longed for big, shady trees, and this area truly is spectacular in its natural scenery and lush green spaces. It immediately felt like home.
There’s actually a funny story about how we discovered our neighborhood. We were in the midst of negotiations to buy our lot, but we knew very little about the surrounding community, which made us a bit nervous. So, one Friday evening, we decided to take a spontaneous drive through the area. As we drove, we stumbled upon a delightful scene: a lively group of neighbors, roughly our age, with their children and dogs, simply hanging out in the street, sharing beers, and catching up. It was such an authentic, welcoming picture of community. We stopped to talk, and instantly, we met some of the warmest, most genuine people we’ve ever encountered. As my husband and I drove off, we exchanged knowing smiles and said to each other, “These are our people!” It was that serendipitous encounter that solidified our decision and made us truly fall in love with Lochwood.
