On the outside, the drive-up appeal of the split-level, combined with the interesting woodwork and colors, exude charm. Living here, the facts that every room is on a different elevation and the amount of natural light and floor plan (no rooms on the first levels terminate in a dead end) make the house seem larger than it is.
The interior of our Dilbeck home is a masterclass in elegant, functional design. The grand fireplace, though now converted to gas for modern convenience, remains the heart of the living space, a focal point of comfort and artistry. Our cozy breakfast nook, bathed in morning light, offers a perfect retreat. These faded scribblings, now carefully preserved beneath new drywall, offer a direct, tangible link to the past – a snapshot of the builders’ lives, their communications, and perhaps their calculations, as they brought this architectural vision to life. It’s a poignant reminder of the human hands and minds that shaped this home nearly a century ago, a silent conversation across generations.
