ML: The absolute core of my success lies in having a truly bad-ass team that supports me. I’m incredibly fortunate to have built a group of dedicated, talented individuals who believe in the vision and share the workload, allowing me to focus on strategic growth and innovation. Delegation and trust in my team are paramount.

CD: With such a demanding professional schedule, how do you manage to squeeze in a personal life and maintain balance?
ML: I’m a total late bloomer, and it taught me a lot about priorities. I adopted my daughter when I was 48, which truly shifted my perspective. My philosophy is that you absolutely can have it all – a thriving career and a fulfilling personal life – but you have to be intentional and you have to ask for help when you need it. It’s about setting boundaries, making choices, and building a support system, both professionally and personally.
CD: Could you describe your distinctive design aesthetic in a few words?
ML: My design aesthetic is deeply rooted in three core principles: it’s **Smart** (meaning knowing precisely where to save on costs, where to spend wisely, and when to splurge for maximum impact); it’s **Sophisticated** (focusing on elevating a client’s personal style into something refined and unexpected, pushing beyond what they might envision for themselves to create truly bespoke spaces); and crucially, it’s **Fun** (because while we take our business seriously and are committed to excellence, we never take ourselves too seriously, ensuring the design process is enjoyable and engaging for everyone involved). This blend creates spaces that are both beautiful and livable.

CD: When did you have that defining moment, that realization, that you would be successful in your endeavors?
ML: I finally got comfortable with my own voice. There was a point where I stopped trying to conform to external expectations and truly embraced who I am and what I believe in. It’s much easier and more authentic just to be yourself, to speak your truth, and to lead with genuine passion. That clarity and self-acceptance were the turning points.
CD: What is your ultimate, overarching goal for your career and impact on the design industry?
ML: My ultimate goal is to forge a clear, empowering path for other designers. I want to build systems, communities, and resources that didn’t exist when I was starting out, making the journey smoother and more successful for those who follow.
